Needs outside the packages? Use the add-ons below to estimate your price.
Tax season intake policy
Each year as the April 15 filing deadline approaches, we only accept new engagements for clients who either agree to file a tax extension or require expedited processing and agree to the associated fees.
Tax extension assistance
Need help filing a six-month extension without a full engagement? We charge a $206 upfront fee, credited toward your tax preparation fee if you engage us. If you don’t proceed, the $206 fee is non-refundable. An extension extends the time to file, not the time to pay — any taxes owed are still due by the original deadline to avoid interest and penalties.
Deposit & expedited processing
All services require a 50% deposit before work begins. If documents are submitted less than 15 days before the filing deadline, an additional $309 base fee plus $26 per day applies. The expedited fee is charged per tax year — if you’re also filing back taxes for prior years, it applies to each year. Expedited processing is not available within the final 2 days before the deadline.

Add-ons to any package
Add what your return needs on top of your package.
** Includes the gain or loss calculation for one property sale: net sale proceeds (sale price less selling costs from your closing statement) compared with your adjusted basis (purchase price and purchase costs, plus improvements, less depreciation taken). Also covers depreciation recapture and, for a primary residence, the home-sale exclusion, if they apply. Rebuilding missing purchase or improvement records is billed hourly — see Additional time outside standard scope.

Additional pricing details
Paper copy filing and mailing service
Our fee includes preparation of Form 1040 and all related statements, along with e-filing or providing a PDF mailing package for you to submit. If you would like us to mail the return directly to the IRS or a state tax authority, a $42 handling fee per package (including tracking confirmation) applies.
Audit assistance insurance — Protection Plus (third-party add-on)
Audit assistance insurance is available through Protection Plus. When purchased, a certified tax professional will help you understand IRS or state notices, assist with drafting response letters, and provide audit guidance at no additional charge.
If you prefer to work directly with Flex Tax for audit support or representation, those services are billed separately at our standard hourly rate.
Married filing jointly (federal) + married filing separately (state)
Filing married jointly for federal and married separately for state purposes is treated as three separate tax returns. If you reside in a community property state, an additional income allocation fee of $203 or more applies. (This fee does not include time spent communicating with or obtaining documents from a former or current spouse.)
Multi-state wage & RSU income allocation — $379 & up
Includes allocation of wage income, bonuses, RSUs and other equity compensation among multiple states based on workdays, sourcing rules and employer records. Additional fees may apply for complex equity compensation (e.g., ISOs, ESPPs, NSOs), multiple employers or extensive workday reconstruction.
Additional time outside standard scope
Any additional time spent identifying missing documents, following up on incomplete information or coordinating with uncooperative third parties is billed separately at our associate hourly rate, as these efforts fall outside the standard scope of services. We will notify you in advance before incurring any additional billable time.
Trust and estate tax returns
** Includes the gain or loss calculation for one sale: net sale proceeds (sale price less selling costs) compared with adjusted basis (purchase price and purchase costs, plus improvements, less depreciation taken), including depreciation recapture if it applies. Rebuilding missing purchase or improvement records is billed hourly — see Additional time outside standard scope.

Already filed yourself?
One-hour in-person or online review of a self-prepared return (TurboTax, H&R Block, etc.) with our Tax Manager or Managing Advisor.
Double-checking is never a bad idea — you could be entitled to a bigger refund than you received last year, and even up to two years before that. If several tax situations apply to you, there’s a significant chance we’ll find a different result on a prior-year return, which might mean overlooked credits or deductions. However, there’s no guarantee — we won’t know for sure until we complete your Second Look Review.
